WASHINGTON -Hypeline News- The Supreme Court has ruled that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights.
In a 6-3 ruling, this court has upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Just in time for the Indiana’s Primary next week.
Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.
Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion The law “is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting ‘the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,’”and was joined by Chief
Justice John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy.Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas also agreed with the outcome, but wrote separately.
Justices David Souter,Stephen Breyer,Ruth Bader Ginsburg desented, just as they had in 2000.
Curently more than 20 states require some form of identification at the polls. Courts have upheld voter ID laws in Arizona, Georgia and Michigan, but struck down Missouri’s in the past.
The high court’s decision will spur efforts to pass similar laws in other states.
This voter ID ruling has lacked the conservative-liberal split that marked the 2000 case.

While hanging around the pool, sipping a beer with young and older people, I was amazed how few Americans actually watch the news or read a newspaper on a daily basis. Yet, they have an opinion on Obama, McCain, China, NAFTA, Iraq and whatever else is going on in our screwed-up world. One 40 y.o. was against NAFTA, because he thought that it was a trade deal with China.
(North American Trade Agreement between Canada, America an Mexico as one bloc)
Mexico’s cheap labor could compete with China and make our Continent stronger. Running a huge country like ours, means looking to the future. Bill Clinton did.

I watched a 5-part series on DISC channel by Fred Koppel. China now has as many millionairs as any western power, and they all like to buy American cars, appliances and furniture. The cheap dollar helps our exports. While our government cuts back on Education, the Chinese invest heavily in Education. Thousands of Chinese kids are being prepared to study abroad (USA) at Government expense.

I work at UC Riverside. A few of months before general elections, the Campus is flooded by people with clipboards that gather signatures for Propositions for us to vote on. I’m sure the same thing happens at ALL Universities. Little freshman boys and girls go apeshit trying to look important by giving their name, address and signature to total strangers, usually shady looking. Hey, little darling, if you dont plan to vote, please dont help put this shit on the ballot.

Obama or McCain ? I think the Democrats screwed up big time. Many States moved up their election dates, because Maine, Rhode Island, Delaware and other midget states were taking all the cake. Michican and Florida, who voted overwhelmingly for Hillary, got punished. Their votes did not count. Other States were not punished.
In November, I would have voted for Hillary. 2 Presidents for the price of one. Hillary and Bill (with 8 years experience). Now the Democrats ask me to vote for a wannabe who has a questionable background ? Sorry, I’ll take my chances on McCain. Little old, but more experienced after 20 years in de Senate, middle of the road, for drilling, against raising taxes.

I keep being blown away by the stupidity of labor unions leadership. In most cases it is obvious that they are a bunch of undereducated, overpromoted laborers. A month ago the AFSCME called a strike against the University of Calfornia, to start on Tuesday. Everything was in place. The bullhorns, the signs, the marchers, the compensation to the strikers. On Thursday, the strike was cancelled, because UC got back to the negotiating table. (Sorry, I would NOT have cancelled the strike, but DEMAND a contract be hammered out over the week-end. If NOT, strike is on on Tuesday) Oh well, we caved in, so now we’re going on strike Monday, while school is out. THERE ARE NO FRIKKEN STUDENTS, so who cares that the AFSCME is striking ? Saves the UC money, because strikers don’t get paid.
Besides, the State and UC is in financial trouble, hardly the time to ask for a pay increase.

Camera’s on intersections. Sneaky bastards. Remember this. Your face must be clearly visible, if not, ticket is invalid. Drive with your visor down as much as possible.
Right-turn camera’s are set to go off when you go 15 mph while approaching the right-turn. Slow down, and you can still make a rolling stop and go.
